Who's your favorite poet?

What do you like about Tru Essence Poetry Night?
I like the family vibe that the night takes whether the crowd is 8 or 80 strong. Everybody, whether "virgin" or "vet", is given equal love.

What drew you to poetry?
Hip-hop. I've always loved true lyricism and that love eventually led me to the even iller wordsmith's in poetry.

How long have you been writing?
I've been writing consistently since age 14 and haven't slowed down since. I started penning R&B joints but fell in love with hip-hop and prose at 18.

What inspires you?
Love. God. Death. Pain. Truth. Family. The idea that the same word I write on a page could maybe change someone's life.

What kind of poems do you write?
I write heartfelt pieces. If I lived it or someone I know lived it it's probably on paper.

What do you want people to know about you?
I am a growing poet, but in my truest form I'm an MC, and I love all types of music.

What do you want people to know about your poetry?
Just to listen. Sometimes the rhymes get a little complex in how I deliver them, but just take time with them.

Have you written any books? Any recordings?
No Books, but me and my partner-in-rhyme, Blaksmith, record all the time so keep your eyes open for the new mixtape and please support.
